Chelsea romped to a 5-0 victory at Middlesbrough while Liverpool and Arsenal produced stirring fightbacks to claim home wins over Wigan Athletic and Everton.
Chelsea's lunchtime demolition job gave the English Premier League leaders 20 points from eight games but Liverpool joined them on the same total after scoring twice in the last 10 minutes to snatch a 3-2 triumph over Wigan.
Arsenal moved to third on 16 points after netting three second-half goals to record a 3-1 victory against Everton.
Aston Villa are fourth after drawing 0-0 at home to Portsmouth, while Manchester United beat West Bromwich Albion 4-0 with goals from Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo, Dimitar Berbatov and Nani.
Zaki tops charts
Egyptian striker Amr Zaki scored twice, including a superb scissors kick, as Wigan outplayed Liverpool in the first half to lead 2-1 after Dirk Kuyt had replied for the hosts on Saturday.
Wigan received a body blow when Antonio Valencia was sent off 15 minutes from time and Liverpool piled on the pressure, culminating in Albert Riera's equaliser and Kuyt's miss-hit winner with five minutes left.
Zaki returns to the top of the English scoring charts with seven goals, one ahead of Portsmouth's Jermain Defoe.
Kalou steps up

Chelsea travelled to Middlesbrough shorn of several injured regulars but went ahead through Salomon Kalou after 14 minutes.
Their dominance bore fruit with four goals in 16 minutes early in the second half, starting with another stunning 30-metre shot by Brazilian Juliano Belletti, who is making a habit of long-distance strikes.
A second for Kalou and goals by Frank Lampard and Florent Malouda secured Chelsea's best away win in the league for five years.
"From the first moment our football, our movement and passing. That was the best we've played for a long time," Lampard told Sky Sports television.
Gunners and Reds rally
Arsenal went into Saturday's game on the back of a home defeat by Hull City and a draw at Sunderland and they fell behind against Everton following an early Leon Osman goal.
But the second-half introduction of England winger Theo Walcott changed the game and goals for Samir Nasri, Robin van Persie and Walcott turned things round.
Manchester United also found it hard going in the first half but eventually overwhelmed Albion, who barely mustered a shot.
In-form England striker Rooney drove powerfully into the box to open the scoring in the 56th minute, then set up Ronaldo for the second.
Berbatov then scored his first league goal for the club, from point-blank range, before Nani finished things off with an excellent counter-attacking goal.
Linesman hurt
Aston Villa and Portsmouth drew 0-0, with a linesman cut in the second half when an coin was thrown from the crowd.
Not even 13ft of striking talent could find a way to goal as both teams built everything through long balls to Peter Crouch and John Carew.
Armand Traore hit a post early and Jermain Defoe missed the rebound in the first half while Portsmouth had Sean Davis sent off late on.
The game was held up in the second half when a linesman suffered a cut head after being hit by a 50 pence piece thrown from the crowd.
There were also 0-0 draws at Bolton v Blackburn and Fulham v Sunderland.
Thousand pints, no goals

The first 1,000 fans into the Reebok stadium were given a free pint of beer and that was probably the highlight of a goalless local derby that only came to life in the final 30 minutes.
Blackburn had the better chances with Jason Roberts heading the best of them badly wide from close range.
Sunderland were on top but they, and Kieran Richardson in particular, were twice denied a goal in unlikely circumstances.
First the midfielder managed to hit the post three times with one shot as his free kick cannoned off one upright against the other then hit the goalkeeper and rebounded back against the post again.
Richardson was even more frustrated when he scored with another free kick but it was disallowed for a team mate pushing in the wall.
Djibril Cisse also hit the bar to complete a frustrating day for Sunderland.
