Champions League newcomers Anorthosis Famagusta and CFR Cluj pulled off their second shock results of the season against established opposition.

Cypriots Anorthosis beat Greek giants Panathinaikos 3-1 in Nicosia to go top of Group B with four points, while Romanians Cluj drew 0-0 at home with Champions League runners-up Chelsea to follow up their opening-day win against Roma.

The Italians came back from a goal down to beat Bordeaux 3-1 away in Group A, while compatriots and Scudetto champions Inter Milan were held 1-1 at home to Werder Bremen in Group B.

Greek defeat

Anorthosis secured their first Champions League group stage win as the Cypriot side defeated Panathinaikos at the GSP Stadium on Wednesday.

Two goals in the space of four minutes in the first half put Anorthosis on top and Panathinaikos could only respond with a penalty from Dimitris Salpigidis.

Iraqi substitute Hawar Taher's 78th minute header buried any thoughts that Panathinaikos still had of grabbing a point.

Anorthosis, making their debut in the group stage of the competition this season, are now joint top of Group B on four points with Inter Milan.

Panathinaikos have lost both their opening games.

Cypriot surprise

After Salpigidis went close early on, it was a surprise when Anorthosis went ahead in the 11th minute.

Jose Sarriegi went to clear a long throw and bizarrely steered it past his own goalkeeper Mario Galinovic.

If there was a touch of good fortune about the home side's first goal there was nothing lucky about the second four minutes later.

Sinisa Dobrasinovic rose above the defence to head home a pinpoint cross from Savio, a former Champions League winner with Real Madrid.

Panathinaikos pulled one back when Salpigidis converted a penalty in the 28th minute after Jeffrey Leiwakabessy handled in the area.

The last word was had by Kurdish Iraqi Taher who headed home the third from a corner 12 minutes from time.

Drogba worry

It's a Drog's life: Didier Drogba suffers injury at Cluj [GALLO/GETTY]
Didier Drogba was carried off on a stretcher midway through Chelsea's drab 0-0 draw at Cluj.

The Ivory Coast striker was injured early in the second half after colliding awkwardly with a defender as he slid in to try and convert a left-wing cross from Florent Malouda.

Few scoring chances were created although Chelsea substitute Nicolas Anelka had a 78th-minute goal ruled out for offside and Eugen Trica hit the outside of the post with a long-range effort for Cluj two minutes later.

Chelsea, last season's runners-up, and Cluj share top spot in Group A with four points from two matches.

Better than zero

"It was difficult, we did not play well, the players know that, but one point is better than zero," Chelsea coach Luiz Felipe Scolari told Sky Sports television.

"Cluj were confident, they wanted to prove something. Maybe they will have a problem in their next game because they ran for 95 minutes."

The Londoners enjoyed most of the early possession but Cluj, who picked up a surprise 2-1 win at AS Roma in their opening game, looked dangerous on the counter attack.

While Cluj's executive director Iuliu Muresan said the draw was worth "as much as a victory", coach Maurizio Trombetta said his players needed to keep their feet on the ground.

"No matter what results we have already obtained, our objective remains third spot," Trombetta said.

Pizarro bags the equaliser [AFP]
Claudio Pizarro returned to haunt former coach Jose Mourinho by grabbing Werder Bremen's equaliser in a 1-1 draw at Inter Milan.

The Peruvian striker, who played under the Inter coach at Chelsea, slid home Mesut Ozil's cross from close range at the far post on 62 minutes.

Inter, who now have four points from two games, had taken the lead on 13 minutes when Brazilian right back Maicon chipped goalkeeper Tim Wiese after running on to a loose ball following some sloppy Werder defending.

Pizarro's equaliser came out of the blue and it took some time for Inter to react with Zlatan Ibrahimovic flashing an inviting ball across the box and Maicon striking the post with a fierce shot.

Werder, who won their last two Bundesliga games 5-2 and 5-4, almost won it in stoppage time when Pizarro fired wide after Julio Cesar had palmed away Naldo's free kick.

"I have to accept this result in a pragmatic way and remember that the goal is to qualify for the next round and we are in a fantastic position," Mourinho said.

"I know that we aren't invincible, but after all the games this year we have lost only once."

Julio hits two

Two goals by substitute Julio Baptista helped AS Roma recover from a goal down to win 3-1 at 10-man Girondins Bordeaux.

Playmaker Yoann Gourcuff opened the scoring for the hosts with a fine angled shot from the edge of the box on 18 minutes.

Bordeaux, thrashed 4-0 by Chelsea in their opening game, then had Brazilian defender Henrique sent off for elbowing Simone Perrotta.

Roma levelled with a header by Montenegro striker Mirko Vucinic after 64 minutes.

Striker Baptista netted from a free kick seven minutes later before sealing victory from close range seven minutes from time.
