The Ethiopian Football Federation has been suspended by Fifa because it failed to comply with agreed steps to normalise the situation of the federation, which had become chaotic after it dismissed its president in January.

Football's world governing body said it decided to suspend Ethiopia's federation following the noncompliance with the so-called roadmap agreed in February and in particular the failure to organise an extraordinary general assembly to decide under international sports rules who would be the federation's top officials.

EFF members who opposed the federation's current president, Ashebir Woldegiorgis, in January elected their own top officials in a separate assembly that was not recognised by Fifa and the Confederation of African Football.
