Dennis Alas was the hero for El Salvador when he scored the winning goal in the 81st minute as El Salvador earned a come from behind 2-1 victory over Trinidad and Tobago in the opening round of the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
 
El Salvador moved into a tie for first place in the Group B with the United States, which beat Guatemala 1-0 earlier.
The teams have three points apiece.
 
Alas converted from 7 meters after teammate Jose Martinez took a shot that deflected off a Trinidad and Tobago defender.
 
El Salvador's Ramon Sanchez scored the equalising goal in the 38th minute.

Eliseo Quintanilla began the move by chipping the ball to Cesar Larios in the left side of the penalty area.

Larios then lunged to keep the ball in play with his right foot and passed to Sanchez, who converted found the net.

Silvio Spann had given Trinidad and Tobago a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute with a 40-meter free kick.

Goalkeeper Juan Gomez deflected the ball off the right post and into the net.

El Salvador plays Guatemala on Saturday, Trinidad and Tobago line up against the United States.
