London Mayor Sadiq Khan says he does not regret nominating Jeremy Corbyn for Labour leadership in the summer of 2015, despite Corbyn losing a confidence vote earlier this week.

"I don't regret that at all," Khan tells Mehdi Hasan. "To be fair to Jeremy Corbyn, last year he had the best campaign ... last year, fairly and squarely he won the contest."

The recently elected mayor also warns against a rumoured split of the Labour Party, which is in the midst of a leadership crisis after last week's Brexit vote.

"When Labour splits, when we're divided, we lose elections," Khan says.

Watch more from Mehdi Hasan's interview with Khan, in which they discuss Brexit, Islamophobia and Khan's role as the first Muslim mayor of a Western capital city, on Friday, July 1 at 19:30 GMT.
