#Zika, #BringBackOurGirls and #Transgender bathroom bills in the US.

#Zika

Health officials from the World Health Organization have warned that the Zika virus may spread to Europe during the spring and summer months. The overall risk is said to be small to moderate, and highest in the areas where the Aedes mosquitoes thrive – the Portuguese island of Madeira, and Georgia and Russia on the Black Sea’s northeast coast. Health workers are preparing. What do you think will be the biggest fallout of Zika in Europe? Send us your comments and questions.

#BringBackOurGirls
What does the return of one of the 219 kidnapped Chibok girls mean for the others who are still missing? After being held by Boko Haram for more than two years, 19-year-old Amina Ali Darsha Nkeki was found with her infant child in the Sambisa forest near the Nigerian border with Cameroon, reportedly recognised by a member of a civilian task force. After being held by Boko Haram for more than two years, she was reunited with her mother, and later met the Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, who promised her the best care available. We’ll explore what lies ahead for Ali as she transitions to life after captivity. Join the conversation at 19:30 GMT.

#Transgender bathroom bills
Bathroom wars are underway in the United States. A recent law in the state of North Carolina requires people in government buildings to use the bathroom that corresponds with the sex on their birth certificate – forcing post-transition transgender people to use the bathroom of the opposite sex. Proponents say children may potentially be hurt using the bathroom alongside people who are transgender. And it’s an issue that’s become highly politicised. Earlier in the month, US President Barack Obama’s administration directed schools across the country to provide transgender students with access to suitable facilities that match their chosen gender identity. The order has divided left public opinion divided across age, party and education lines. We’ll take a look at how people are reacting and what impact the bills may have. Join us at 19:30 GMT.
