The Egyptian revolution has created a geopolitical earthquake.
With its rich history and large population Egypt was the traditional leader of the Arab world, it was the center of Arab nationalism. But for decades its leadership role has diminished. Paralysed by poverty and corruption it could no longer stand up to the West on key issues such as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, or the war in Iraq.
Now, after the ousting of Hosni Mubarak, the world is still waiting to see which way the new Egypt will go: How will regional alliances change? Will Egypt be a friend to the West? Will it continue diplomatic relations with Israel? Do Egyptians want their country to re-assume a leadership role in the Arab world?
The Cafe travels to Cairo to discover what role Egyptians want their country to play in the region and the world.
