The entire tennis world is talking about a young man from Serbia named Novak Djokovic.

He has shot to number three in the world rankings and has beaten all the big names in the sport – including Roger Federer, who he overcame to claim the ATP Masters Series title in Montreal in the lead-up to the US Open.

Tennis writers, fans and players all believe Djokovic could be the next big star in the game.

Balkan Barrage

There is also a Balkan barrage taking over the women’s tour.

Two young Serbian players – Jelena Jankovic and Ana Ivanovic have both broken into the world’s top five. They have been turning heads and winning titles.

Tyson Gay talks to Sportsworld

The US Open is not the only big sporting event on the sporting calendar. The IAAF World Athletics Championships are also set to begin in Osaka, Japan.

The event that most fans will be looking forward to is the men’s 100 metres, for which Tyson Gay is one of the favourites.

He is the fastest man on the planet this year, and he told Sportsworld’s Carrie Brown why he has been tipped to break the world record this year.

McEnroe speaks

Finally this week, tennis legend John McEnroe always has an opinion on the matters that count in tennis.

He told us what he thought of the new Hawkeye line-calling system, the US Open tournament, and dinosaurs!
