On Monday Riz speaks with Jerrold Post, the author of The Mind of the Terrorist: The Psychology of Terrorism from the IRA to al Qaeda, and Louise Richardson, the author of What Terrorists Want: Understanding the Enemy, Containing the threat.

Both have delved into the minds of ‘terrorists’ to understand what motivates their behaviour.

Post argues that terrorism is the product of collective identity, shaped over years, as children are indoctrinated with a message of hatred, either from community leaders or religious radicals whose interpretations of scripture are rejected by the vast majority of the population.

Richardson examines how the policies of the Bush administration have provided al Qaeda with the fuel needed for them to succeed.
