Despite recent intelligence revelations some are still calling for a tougher stance.

Anand Naidoo sits in for Riz Khan this week.

On Monday we speak to one of America’s leading neoconservatives – Michael Ledeen of the American Enterprise Institute – to discuss US policy on Iran.

The escalating rhetoric of the Bush administration regarding Iran was dealt a blow last week, when it was revealed that the nation’s 16 intelligence agencies agreed that Iran had stopped its nuclear weapons programme in 2003. This contradicted an earlier National Intelligence Estimate that predicted that Iran was 10 years away from developing a nuclear bomb.

This has not stopped neoconservatives from arguing for a tougher stance on Iran, rejecting dialogue with Tehran and even advocating air strikes against nuclear installations.

Dr Ledeen was a fervent advocate of the Iraq war, and believes that the US should now have its sights on Iran.

We will be discussing the impact of the neocons on the debate on Iran.
