Sacred to Jews, Christians and Muslims, Jerusalem is a city that is as divided as it is ancient. But amidst the struggle over political rights and access to the city, the urban fabric of Jerusalem’s Old City is also threatened by overcrowding, lack of maintenance and poor services.

On Monday’s Riz Khan we talk with Dr Shadia Touqan who is heading a project aimed at saving the precious landmarks of Jerusalem’s Old City.

Revitalising for survival – the work being conducted gives first priority to the area’s residents, seeking to maintain their ‘fabric of life’ while giving them a renewed sense of pride in their neighbourhood and institutions.
