On July 7, 2005, four young British Muslims set off bombs on the public transportation system in London, killing 52 of their fellow countrymen and injuring hundreds.

The attacks sent shockwaves around the world, but especially in Britain, where some began to question how successfully the Muslim community was integrating into the greater society.

As the second anniversary of the attacks approaches, Riz Khan speaks to one of Britain’s leading Muslim figures, Sir Iqbal Sacranie.

Sacranie was the secretary-general of the Muslim Council of Britain at the time of the attacks, and is an adviser to the country’s leaders on relations with Britain’s Muslims.
