Watch part two

The agreement brokered last week by Kofi Annan between Mwai Kibaki, Kenya's president from the Party of National Unity (PNU) and Raila Odinga, the opposition leader from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), see's Odinga take over the newly reinstated role of prime minister with executive powers.

It is hoped that the agreement will finally bring peace to the nation, which has been on the verge of civil war since the presidential elections on December 27, 2007.

After the results came out, which independent observers called "unfair", more than a thousand people were left dead and hundreds of thousands displaced from their homes by ethnic violence.

In October, People & Power featured Kenyan comedy group, Redykulass, who were part of a nation-wide campaign to encourage young people to register to vote.

Barbara Orton and her team were behind the scenes with the members of Redykulass throughout the troubled election period.

Her film offers a rare insight into how politics in Kenya is conducted and the tensions that lead the country to the brink of civil war.

This episode of People & Power aired from Wednesday,  March 5, 2008.
