Watch part two

Riz meets George Benson, the legendary guitarist and singer.

His mellow guitar sounds and vocals have played a major part in influencing the jazz scene in the US and he topped the charts in not only jazz, but rhythm, blues, and pop.

As a young man from a musical family in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he took an early interest in music, playing a home-made guitar before moving on to finer instruments.

George Benson was not only publicly performing early on but was leading on an album by the age of 21.

Over the years, the innovative jazz man not only performed with top artists, but also successfully played and recorded across genres – including pop and soul.
To this day, the talented guitarist looks for new sounds to keep his music in the groove.

This episode of One on One aired from Saturday, October 17, 2009.
