Will Thailand’s new constitution lead to stability?

Voters overwhelmingly approved a new military-backed constitution that critics call undemocratic.

Thailand’s political history has been littered with periods of turmoil and uncertainty since the 1930s.

The country’s military leaders now say that the new constitution, Thailand’s 20th, will pave the way for peace and stability.

Thai voters overwhelmingly approved the military-backed draft constitution on Sunday.

But critics argue that the document will just solidify the military’s hold on the government.

So, is the referendum about grabbing more power? Or about returning to democracy?
