Can the world rely on renewable energy?

Greenpeace says 100 percent dependence can be achieved worldwide by 2050.

The environmental watchdog says it is the only way to ensure the world does not suffer catastrophic climate change and that there are no major economic or technical obstacles to full clean energy use by the middle of this century.

Greenpeace outlines a plan for achieving the transition by phasing out coal, oil, gas and nuclear energy.

But at what cost? And what is the geopolitical impact?
