The face of the US abroad

Inside Story looks at Obama’s nomination of Hillary Clinton as secretary of state.

Watch part two

Despite having spent much of the previous two years questioning her foreign policy credentials, Barack Obama, the US president-elect, has announced his nomination of Hillary Clinton, his former presidential rival, as secretary of state in his new administration.

The former first lady and New York senator said that she was glad to be part of the new administration but some in the Obama camp have questioned her foreign policy positions.

In this edition of Inside Story we ask how Clinton will match up to being the face of the US abroad and what this will mean for the Middle East.
