Police in Germany are investigating the brutal execution of six men gunned down outside an Italian restaurant in the city of Duisburg.

They are believed to be the victims of a feud involving the Ndrangheta – an Italian mob said to be more powerful and dangerous than the Sicilian mafia.

Just who makes up this organisation and why is so little known about them?
