Inside Story asks if the world has failed Afghanistan
The suffering of the Afghan people is immense and appears to be unending. The International Committee of the Red Cross has said that the humanitarian situation in the country is actually getting worse.

Pierre Krähenbühl, the director of operations of the ICRC, said: "The humanitarian situation in Afghanistan is worse now than it was a year ago.

"Civilians suffer horribly from mounting threats to their security, such as increasing numbers of roadside bombs and suicide attacks, and regular aerial bombing raids. They also lack access to basic services. It is incredibly difficult for ordinary Afghans to lead a normal life."

With the civilian population bearing the brunt of the military operations, has the world failed Afghanistan nearly six years after toppling the Taliban?

And where has the money the Afghans were promised gone?
