Fighting in Mogadishu [AFP]
Just a few months after it was engaged in one bloody war, Somalia is engulfed in yet another deadly conflict.

So far the fighting between forces of the transitional government and Union of Islamic Courts fighters has claimed tens of lives and pushed more than 320,000 civilians out of the capital, Mogadishu.

The humanitarian situation is dire. No diplomatic solution is in sight. Just how far has Somalia plunged into chaos? And what can be done to bring it back from the abyss?
