INSIDE IRAQ
The Israel-Iran threat
What will a possible Israeli air raid on Iranian targets mean for Iraq?
Last Modified: 24 May 2009 13:13 GMT

Binyamin Netanyahu, Israel's prime minister, was in Washington this week to urge Barack Obama, the US president, to take a stronger position on Iran's nuclear ambitions amid concerns of a possible Israeli air raid against targets inside the Persian country.

What would be the consequences for Iraq if such an attack was carried out? Would Iraq become a theatre for military retaliation by Iran?

Our guests this week are Phyllis Bennis, the director of the New Internationalism Project at the Institute for Policy Studies and the author of Understanding the US-Iran Crisis: A Primer, Raanan Gissin, a senior adviser to former Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon, and from Tehran, Seyed Mohammad Marandi, the head of North American Studies at Tehran University.

This episode of Inside Iraq aired from Friday, May 22, 2009.
