Watch part two

After more than a week of intense political wrangling, the Iraqi parliament finally approved the security agreement that set December 31, 2011 as the deadline for US troops to withdraw from Iraq.

Parliament was adjourned twice due to acrimonious negotiations over demands from Sunni Arabs who insist on political concessions to safeguard their interests.

Nuri al-Maliki, the Iraqi prime minister, insists that the agreement will be an important milestone towards regaining Iraq's sovereignty in three years.

Many observers, however, believe it may not lead to the full withdrawal of US troops from Iraq.

It now remains to be seen if the security agreement will foster national reconciliation in Iraq or further divide the country once US troops start their withdrawal.

Our guests this week are Mahmud Othman, a member of Iraq's Council of Representatives, and Sabah al-Mukhtar, the president of the Arab Lawyers Association.
