Child mortality, illiteracy and poverty are on the rise
[GALLO/GETTY]
Life for most Iraqis has become a nightmare.

Unemployment, child mortality, illiteracy and poverty are on the rise. Clean water and electricity supplies have become a luxury for most people.

Many are getting desperate and have resigned themselves to a bleak future.

Should Nouri al-Maliki's government seek the expertise of international organisations?

Our guests this week are Hans von Sponeck, a former UN coordinator for Iraq, Dr Said Hakky, the president of the Iraqi Red Crescent, and Jane Arraf, a former CNN Baghdad bureau chief.
