Last week football’s world governing body FIFA announced it was banning international matches from being played at altitudes higher than 2,500m (8,200ft).

It is a ruling which has prompted Evo Morales, the president of Bolivia, to lace up his football boots in protest.

As Rahul Pathak explains, officials in Ecuador, Colombia and Peru are not taking the decision lightly either.
