General Sir Mike Jackson

General Sir Mike Jackson
General Jackson, the former head of the British army, talks to Sir David about his comments on US military strategy in Iraq and his criticism of Donald Rumsfeld, the former US defence secretary, which made headlines earlier in September.

His comments, which represent the most outspoken criticism of US military policy in Iraq to come from a senior British officer, come ahead of the release of his autobiography, Soldier.

In his autobiography, General Jackson accuses Rumsfeld of refusing to deploy enough troops to maintain law and order after the removal of Saddam Hussein.
