The Fabulous Picture Show, the only English-language film show for cinemaphiles the world over, returns for a new run as leading Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen joins Amanda Palmer for a special screening of Flame and Citron.

Gonzo

Alex Gibney won an Oscar in 2008 for his documentary about the torture of US military prisoners, Taxi To the Dark Side

His past work also includes the shocking and entertaining Enron: The Smartest Guys In The Room.

Now he is celebrating the life and work of the original "gonzo" journalist, Hunter S. Thompson.

For all his hell-raising, Thompson was a supremely insightful journalist. Gibney tells us about Thompson and "gonzo", a subjective form of journalism that often avoids the mere listing of facts in order to get at deeper truths.

Flame and Citron

The new run of The Fabulous Picture Show begins with a special screening of Flame and Citron, the most expensive film in Danish history.

The story follows an odd pair of Danish resistance fighters during the Second World War.

Flame is just 23 and so named because of his shock of red hair, while Citron is older, bespectacled, and always sweaty.

The acclaimed director Ole Christian Madsen's epic follows two of Denmark's most celebrated resistance fighters as they assassinate Nazis and Danish collaborators.

Far from another run of the mill look at Nazis and the Second World War, Flame And Citron provides a fresh, exciting perspective on the Nazi occupation of Northern Europe.

Denmark’s Mads Mikkelsen, one of Europe's hottest actors joins Amanda Palmer for a question and answer session with the FPS audience to discuss his role as Citron, a hero beset by inner demons.

Claudio Simonetti

Claudio Simonetti was a founder of the legendary 1970s Italian prog-rock band Goblin.

But when he met "giallo" horror director Dario Argento, a collaboration was formed that would dwarf the success of Goblin.

Simonetti has composed the soundtrack for most of Argento's gems through the years, including Profondo Rosso, one of the best-selling horror soundtracks in history, Suspiria, all the way up until the recent Mother of Tears.

Amanda Palmer meets Simonetti in his studio outside Rome, where unveils the process of making scary films even more frightening.

The Fabulous Picture Show can be seen from Monday March 16 at the following times GMT: Monday 1230; Tuesday 0330 and 1400; Wednesday 0630 and 1900; Thursday 0130 and 1030; Friday 0330 and 1000; Saturday 1730; Sunday 0430 and 2030
