Freecycle.org is based on the idea that recycling is good, but re-use is even better. The site, which is run by volunteer moderators, lets you ‘gift’ items you no longer want to whoever can find a use for them. It now has 8 million members across nearly 5,000 communities from Boston to Beijing.
