From arming fighters in Iraq, aiding the regime in Syria and supporting another regime change in Yemen, Iran has been increasing its military presence in the Middle East, raising a lot of questions and concerns about its ambitions.

The oil-rich nation has beefed up defence expenditure - that is expected to rise to around $10bn.
