The cloud over Qatar’s World Cup

On the back of allegations of poor labour rights and bribery, Lee Wellings talks to Nasser Al Khater.

As Qatar prepares to host the FIFA World Cup in 2022, it has come under much scrutiny in the western media. 

Meanwhile, the International Trade Union claims that poor saftey standards could cost the lives of 4000 mostly-South Asian migrant workers, just in the building of infrastructure. And there is the bid itself: did dirty money play a role in Qatar’s surprise win?

Al Jazeera’s sports correspondent Lee Wellings spoke to Nasser Al-Khater, a member of Qatar 2022’s Supreme Committee.
