Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, the Indonesian
president, speaks to 101 East

In 2004 Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono won Indonesia's first direct presidential elections, and became the leader of the most populated Muslim-majority nation on earth.

He won over his country's voters with his image as a man of integrity, a strong communicator and firm leader in times of crisis.

Yet since coming to power his critics say the former military commander is surprisingly indecisive, and has yet to fulfill many of his promises. The last time he gave an interview to foreign media was over a year ago.

Now, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono – the man dubbed 'the thinking general' speaks to 101 East, and grants us exclusive access to the presidential palace.
