Jane Goodall: To fix the environment, fix poverty

The legendary primatologist and environment activist says it’s time ‘to rethink our relationship with the natural world’.

Covid-19. Ebola. Zika. All diseases that started in animals, but spread to humans.

“We’ve created conditions where these pathogens can jump from animals to people,” says Dr Jane Goodall, DBE, founder of the Jane Goodall Institute and a UN Messenger of Peace.

She tells host Steve Clemons that the environment will not get better unless poverty is alleviated, “Because when you’re really poor, you just do what you have to do to live.”
