Hero rat awarded gold medal for detecting landmines in Cambodia

Meet Magawa, the hero rat awarded a gold medal for his “lifesaving bravery” detecting landmines in Cambodia.

A landmine-sniffing rat in Cambodia was given a gold medal for “lifesaving bravery and devotion to duty” by UK’s leading vet charity PDSA.

Magawa has been detecting landmines in Cambodia for the past seven years, sniffing out 39 landmines and 28 unexploded munitions, according to the charity.

He has cleared land the size of 20 football pitches and can search a field the size of a tennis court within 20 minutes.
