Pictures: Holy Week in Popayan, Colombia

Each paso is taken care of by a family in Popayan. In this case, the Virgin of Loneliness is being prepared by Carlos Reinaldo Lopez. As a sindico, he supervises the decoration.
The Paso of the Fallen Jesus where the colours of flowers symbolise different sentiments. Wednesday's flowers are pink, representing the joy of humanity in seeking immediate redemption.
The Holy Sepulcher procession, which dates back to the 18th century.
The procession marking the Kiss of Judas. This paso is being taken back to be dismantled, with all its pieces safely stored until next year’s processions.
The children's processions begin on Easter Sunday and end the following Thursday, which this year falls on April 16. The children follow the same pattern as their elders in the earlier processions during Popayan's Holy Week.
The children take these events very seriously, and look forward to next year's events, as much as their parents.
