Syria Kurds seek essential supplies in Iraq

Iraq’s Kurdish region allows refugees to buy and transport fuel and food, despite Baghdad restrictions.

Thousands of Syrian Kurds affected by government bombardments in al-Hasaka province have taken dangerous trips to and from the bordering Kurdish region in Iraq in order to transport essential supplies back home.

Kurdish authorities in Iraq have allowed the refugees to purchase much needed food and fuel during harsh winter conditions, despite restrictions imposed by the Baghdad government.
