Ashton makes first Middle East trip
EU's foreign policy chief to visit region after criticising Israel's building plans.

Catherine Ashton, the European Union's new foreign policy chief, is heading to the Middle East for the first time since her appointment in December.

Ashton, whose trip will include visits to Israel and Gaza, earlier condemned Israel's building plans in East Jerusalem.
