The trial of more than two dozen men accused of plotting attacks for the Lebanese group Hezbollah has been adjourned in Egypt.

The next hearing has been set for October.

Lawyers said the defendants pleaded not guilty in Sunday's hearing at an Egyptian security court.

The 26 suspects are charged with spying for a foreign group, planning attacks against tourists and shipping in the Suez Canal, and sending operatives to Gaza to help groups fighting Israel there.

In April, Egyptian security officials said they had uncovered a Hezbollah cell plotting to destabilise the country.

Hassan Nasrallah, the Hezbollah leader, admitted sending an agent to supervise weapon shipments to Hamas in Gaza, but he has denied seeking to harm Egypt's security.
