The Israeli government appears to have launched a campaign to discredit human-rights groups in an effort to counter the mounting criticism over its conduct in the Gaza war.
Several rights organisations have condemned Israel's actions against Palestinian civilians during the December-January Gaza offensive, and have called for investigations into the Israeli military's conduct.
Now, the government is considering legislation to impose restrictions on fund-raising for such groups, in a move that could hinder rights efforts in the country.
