Ban denies downplaying Gaza report

The UN secretary-general has sought to distance himself from a strongly-worded UN report criticising Israeli conduct in its war on Gaza.

Instead of laying out damning details contained in the report, Ban Ki-moon praised Israel for its co-operation, stressed that the report's findings were not legally binding and said he had no plans to act on the report's recommendation to launch a broader investigation.

Al Jazeera's John Terrett reports.
