At least three people are hurt in Ashkelon by a Palestinian missile.

A rocket has hit a shopping centre in the southern Israeli city of Ashkelon, injuring at least three people.

The attack on Wednesday was launched from the Gaza Strip, police said.

Media outlets were reporting extensive damage to the shopping centre, called the Hutzot mall.

Palestinian factions frequently fire homemade rockets across the boundary, although injuries and deaths are rare.

The rockets came hours after George Bush, the US president, landed in Israel to celebrate the creation of the state with the Israeli government.
