Thousands protest in Kiev urging freeing of ex-premier after EU court condemns her imprisonment as rights abuse.

Fights have broken out between riot police and protesters during an opposition rally in Ukraine.

Thousands of people took to the streets of Kiev, the capital, calling for the release of former premier Yulia Tymoshenko, whose imprisonment has been condemned by the European Court of Human Rights as a politically motivated violation of her rights.
