Britain braced for budget cuts

Finance minister to set out severe austerity measures in bid to tackle country’s debt.

Britain is bracing itself for a round of severe cuts when George Osborne, the country’s finance minister, reveals an emergency budget on Tuesday.

The coalition government is warning that the level of public debt is now so high that deep austerity measures are needed to avoid a loss of confidence in the country’s finances.
