Earlier this year tens of thousands of Brazilians took to the streets waving brooms as a symbol of their hopes to sweep corruption out of their country.

The country's president, Dilma Rousseff, is facing pressure over corruption in her administration having had six of her ministers resign over fraud allegations and a seventh may be on his way out.

Among those who resigned was the powerful chief of staff Antonio Palocci accused of using his position to illegally enriche himself.
