A bomber has attacked a police checkpoint on the outskirts of the Pakistani city of Lahore.

The incident in the east of the country on Monday wounded at least eight people, a senior police official said.

It comes hours after more than 30 people were killed in the garrison city of Rawalpindi, injuring dozens more.

The Taliban is suspected of undertaking the earlier attack, which occured near a bank as people queued to receive payments.

No group has claimed either attack.
