Pakistanis become fearful as military wages its war against the Taliban.

Taliban attacks across Pakistan have left markets quiet, shops shut and citizens confining themselves to their homes.

The army has begun a campaign against Taliban fighters in South Waziristan, but many Pakistanis are afraid the move could prompt a retaliation from the armed group.

Alan Fisher reports from the unusually subdued capital, Islamabad.
