Thousands flee Pakistan Taliban clashes

Thousands of civilians flee Dir district as paramilitary forces launch an all-out assault on the Pakistani Taliban after it tried to take control there.

The military action comes weeks after the government allowed the Taliban to implement its interpretation of sharia (Islamic law) in the neighbouring Swat valley in exchange for giving up their weapons.
