China expands role in Africa
Author Frank Sieren discusses China's growing ties with Africa in interview to Al Jazeera.

According to Chinese government figures, trade between China and Africa has risen by more than 33 per cent annually this decade.

Last year, the volume of two-way trade almost hit $107bn.

Resource rich and boasting a market potential of 800 million people, Africa is a key destination for Chinese investment.

In the first nine months of this year alone, Beijing invested more than $7.8bn in the continent.

Al Jazeera interviewed Frank Sieren in Beijing, an author and journalist who made a documentary on the booming ties between China and Africa.
