Giving money to poor farmers not to cultivate the land may sound a strange way to lift people out of poverty but a pilot project in Vietnam is aiming to do just that.

At the same time, the project aims to preserve the environment and benefit the local economy.

Al Jazeera's Divya Gopalan reports from Lam Dong province in Vietnam's Central Highlands.
