A collapsed subway tunnel has trapped six construction workers in Beijing, China's capital.
Rescue workers were trying to reach those trapped after the tunnel collapsed on Wednesday, but the construction workers chances of survival are slim, China's official Xinhua news agency said on Thursday.
The collapsed section, which was under construction for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, covers an area of about 20 square metres and is about 11 metres deep, according to Xinhua.
Construction work on the line has been beset by a number of cave-ins and floods, as China pushes ahead with its Olympics building programme.
The collapse occurred on Wednesday morning on the Number 10 line, which runs through the main Olympics compound in northwest Beijing.
China Railway 12th Bureau Group Co Ltd, the stated-owned construction company overseeing the work, did not offer a comment on Wednesday.
