Wrongly jailed US man released after 29 years

Conviction of David McCallum, jailed for murder aged 16, overturned after judge ruled it was based on false confession.

    A man from New York who was found guilty of murder at the age of 16 and spent 29 years behind bars has been freed after a judge overturned his conviction, saying it was based on a false confession.

    The decision to free David McCallum was made at the recommendation of Brooklyn District Attorney Ken Thompson who has helped overturn 10 convictions of his predecessors in less than a year since taking office.
