US says al-Qaeda financier operates from Iran
Al-Suri reportedly has been working in Iran since at least 2005, with the Iranian government’s consent.

The United States says a senior al-Qaeda financier who was once jailed in Iran is now free. Yasin Al Suri is now recruiting fighters to send into Syria, according to the US government.
The Syrian native has been wanted by Washington since 2011 for allegedly moving money and al-Qaeda operatives via Iran to Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the West.
